Pueblo County School Board Election Canceled
The Pueblo County School Board formally canceled their school board elections last night, September 5, 2017, since every incumbent in District 3, 4, & 5 turned in their signatures to return to their positions & nobody else in the county did. Since they had no competition, there wasn't a reason to have an election, so they formally canceled it, which is nice & smart, for me as a voter. Why put forth a pointless question? It's cumbersome & superfluous, it can be confusing, & I'm okay with the School Board making that specific decision. I'm saddened by having to cancel an election because nobody in the county, in district 3, 4, & 5 - which is 3 of the 5 districts, i.e. the majority - thought to run, or didn't know about it, couldn't get the signatures turned in in time, etc, for whatever reason, it's sad to see an election have to be canceled. 2017 was a year that the entire direction, agenda, & make-up of the school board could have changed - 3 out of 5 is a majority - and Pueblo County won't have a chance to fundamentally change the majority of the school board again until 2021, 4 years from now.
