These Pueblo City Mayoral forums are turning out to be some legendary Lincoln-Douglass shit. Transcripts should be written, & every citizen & student need to carefully weigh each candidate's words, what it means for policy, & for the future of Pueblo City.
While that Jackie Massey rocked the entire show, I wouldn't vote for him. Not yet. I'm too unfamiliar with him. I need to know more.
Larry Atencio doesn't understand the 3 Branches of Government. He claims that the Mayor is merely an administrator, & that the City Council is the Executive Branch. Nope. The Mayor is the Executive Branch, & the City Council is the Legislative Branch. But Councilman Atencio did get a Masters in Public Administration.
If the Mayoral election were held today, my ranked choice ballot would look like this:
1- Janet Wilson
2- Jackie Massey
3- Charlotte Perez
4- Nick Gradisar
5- Larry Atencio
6- Gary Clark
7- Nick Ayers
Without Gradisar, the Architect of the brand spanking new illegal & unconstitutional "Strong Mayor" system form of government, the forum would have been completely different.
There were 7 hopefuls there, out of the 13 who have filed so far, & about 50 members of the public in attendance. None of the 7 Mayoral Hopefuls said jack shit about the 47-year-long American War on Drugs being a miserable failure, nor about how the homeless people need shelter. We haven't got rid of the Drugs, and we've had a War on Drugs for the last 47 years now. Destroying the supply & criminalizing those Americans who believe they have a right to their own bodies, hasn't worked, won't work, & we must begin anew. Everywhere the War on Drugs has been implemented has been a colossal failure, & everywhere there's been an alternative to the War on Drugs (Oregon, Uruguay, Portugal, Switzerland, Colorado, North Korea, etc) has been working.
We need to focus on Harm Reduction, like what they're doing in Switzerland, before it's too late.
& the houseless need housing. The homeless need shelter. That's the solution. Any deviation from that won't solve the homelessness problem at the root.
Larry Atencio said that since Jesus Christ couldn't eradicate poverty 2,000 years ago during the Bronze Age in the Middle East, specifically, Jeruselum - before the radio, automobile, the Internet, & Johnathan Masters was invented -, that we shouldn't try it in the Postmodern Age. Sure, Larry, Jesus tried to cure poverty 2,000 years ago, but Jesus didn't live in Amerika. And he was up against the Romans. & Pontius Pilate. Shit was different back then.
How dare Larry Atencio use Jesus Christ's name in vain only in order to not give a damn about the poor. That's everything Jesus Christ was against.
